The Camp’s Meadow Lodge offers a unique program to our adolescent population in the Serenity Community Garden.
What is the Serenity Garden?
The Serenity Garden at The Camp Recovery Center
Adolescent patients have the opportunity to cultivate fruits, vegetables and other plants in the Serenity Community Garden. This garden serves as an opportunity for the patient to leave a piece of them behind when they graduate from the program.
What are the benefits of the garden?
Benefits of the Serenity Garden
Not only does this garden help promote caring and concern amongst the patients and staff, but it also helps instill traditional and wholesome values in adolescents participating in the program, including:
- Learning about the benefits of organic gardening in ways that translate into their own recovery from chemical dependency
- Staying connected to physical activity in an outdoor environment that promotes peacefulness and positive self-esteem
- Encouraging learning how to build something up rather than tearing it down through providing care, attention, and love.
