Phyllis Meagher selected to lead premier addiction treatment center in California
SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. (Sept. 18, 2020) — The Camp Recovery Center, a premier addiction treatment center in Scotts Valley, California, has named Phyllis Meagher its new chief executive officer.
Meagher officially joined The Camp Recovery Center as CEO on June 1, 2020, bringing with her more than 35 years of experience in the healthcare industry. She most recently served as division vice president of Mental Health Systems, overseeing 11 facilities in Southern California.
She started her career as an addiction counselor specializing in substance use and eating disorders, gaining experience in a variety of clinical and health administrative roles. She also served as an executive in the insurance industry before advancing to chief executive officer for various leading facilities, hospitals, and health plans across multiple locations and states.
“I am very excited to be part of such a dedicated and passionate team of professionals at The Camp Recovery Center,” said Meagher.
Meagher is board-certified in healthcare administration as a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and is a certified alcohol and drug counselor (CADC). She earned a Bachelor of Arts in behavioral science and a Master of Business Administration, both from National University in San Diego.
She prides herself on her management style, which she has honed throughout her career by working closely with individuals of all academic backgrounds and life experiences. Her goal as a leader is to mentor and encourage her team to reach deep within themselves to make the most of their gifts and talents when helping individuals find recovery from substance use disorders.
“It is an amazing gift to see patients and families whose lives have been negatively affected by substance abuse or behavioral health concerns finding recovery, leading productive lives, and giving back to their communities,” said Meagher. “It is difficult but rewarding work we do, and I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of that process.”
